Ceremonial Dance/Rhythm and Rootz with Jenna Bodensteiner

Yes, we will be dancing together! We will dance in community, connect to one another through rhythm, and connect to our roots through movement. Through dance we unveil the intelligence held in our roots, connect to our ancestors and each other, and refine our relationship with nature. And we will definitely have fun! Dance is for all of us - no experience necessary. Gradual & repetitive movements provide the comfort needed for everyone to access the purpose of this practice.

04

Sound Bath and Mother Blessing Ritual to close the circle

We will enjoy a lovely sound bath led by Alejandra Biers-Brown with Weaving Sounds as we experience a Mother Blessing Ritual to close our circle. This beautiful ritual will honor our sacred identity as mothers, unite and connect us, and leave us feeling completely relaxed and renewed in body/mind/spirit as we close out the retreat and head home to continue our motherhood journeys.

Jenna Bodensteiner

Founder of Rhythm and Rootz

Rhythm and roots is the physical manifestation of the evolution of my relationship to dance, music, culture and Earth. As an indigenous Colombian woman who was adopted as an infant, who grew up in white western culture, I felt an undeniable connection to my indigenous identity. As a child I could never articulate or identify what this feeling actually was. I was sure, I was quiet, I was observant. It was a kind of knowing. A grounding or feeling of reassurance and safety. Music was my spirit’s first reminder. Once I heard music from Africa, the Caribbean, Central and South America it lit a spark that has now turned into a full on flame.

Rhythm & Rootz is a ceremonial dance practice. The objective in the way I guide this ceremony is for us all to first firmly ground ourselves into the music through listening, feeling, breathing and being inspired to set an intention. We will hold on to that intention throughout the experience and dance knowing that every ounce of effort we pour into our physical body has the ability to align with our intention and make a powerful connection to body, mind, and spirit. A powerful and ancient ritual meant to lift our celebrations and sorrows as a commUnity. When we dance in commUnity the collective energy has the ability to influence the way we move through life and therefore impact that which we desire and refine our relationship with Earth and each other. Dancing with a purpose. Ancient intelligence. It is all connected. Armonía (Harmony)
